2024-2025

Third Year in Review

This past year has been a busy one for sure! Fall semester, I was working part time at Fishbeck doing HVAC and plumbing design during the day, and at night, I was attending Elite Welding Academy working to get my structural welding certification. The spring semester was an even busier one, taking 21 credit hours, having an active wing job in AFROTC, and Field Training Preparation throughout the semester. This summer, I have a big trip planned to Alaska, and a three-week training in Alabama plus my third co-op rotation.

Jumping into my fall experience, I found that I love welding. I got introduced to the construction environment, and the heat that comes with it. Literally, the thousand-degree metal in front of me.  I am very detail oriented, and I love the chase of reaching perfection. So, the precision and art behind welding drew me in more every day. For the first time in a long time, I was so excited to go to class every day. Not many people can weld, so I was proud with my performance and accomplishments during that time. It really made me want to look more into the construction side of architectural engineering.

The spring semester was very, very busy. The days seemed so long, but also so fast that I blinked and the semester was done. I really enjoyed the design aspect in my architecture studio class, and I am excited to get to build upon those skills in the studio two class in the coming fall. In ROTC, I was selected to be the public affairs officer, so I was busy managing my four subordinates and taking pictures of all the activities going on. I learned clear, concise communication is key to success, so I want to continue to build upon those skills.

Looking forward, I am happy to announce that I have accepted a position as a Project Engineer Intern at Messer Construction Co. this summer and cannot wait to see what site I will be working on! I would like to gain a mentor or two in the construction industry that I can call upon to help give me a better understanding of the field. This next academic semester, one of my main goals is to have projects done at least one full day before they are due. I get caught up in a lot of other activities, but I am working to prioritize projects ahead of other things.

In all, it was a tiring year, but I learned more than I could have imagined. I am excited to see what is in store for me next year!
